Rich fabrics, strong patterns and deep colors are the key elements of this living room. My clients expressed a desire to have the design of their living room reflect their African background. It was important to incorporate an ethnic undertone while maintaining a contemporary look. To accomplish this I had to find pieces that brought a sense of culture to the room while still creating a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.

I used many earth elements in the design of this room, from the coffee table constructed from bronzed metal and leather trim to the dried flowers and branches used in the arrangements. The sofa upholstered in a subtle leopard print fabric and the chaise in a deep gold fabric bring a bold sense of emotion to the room. When completed, this room gave the clients an area to relax and entertain while reveling in their cultural background and influences.
