The existing Murphy bed was a great asset in the efforts to maximize this minimal space. Due to the predominantly white surface area within this apartment, it was necessary to add color through accents and furnishings in order to give the space some life. The block pattern bedding helped achieve this.

However, too much color in the wrong areas would make the space seem smaller so special consideration was needed. The artwork on the left side of the bed allowed me to add some interest to the bare wall without infusing too much color and reducing the visual dimensions of the area.
