Having worked with Upside Software in the past, I was aware of their specific requirements in terms of space planning and interior design. Due to the fact that the company had expanded substantially, they had outgrown their previous office space. The new space they wished to occupy was comprised of two separate offices that needed demolition work in order to connect them into one larger space. As is typical for these types of projects, the budget and the "bottom line" was of great importance. As such, there was a lot of problem solving and creative planning required to meet the needs of the client and also stay within budget. Due to the high profile building the company was moving into, there were a lot of requirements and guidelines set forth by the building management team that we needed to adhere to and satisfy. In the initial planning phase of the project, I met regularly with the higher level executives at Upside Software to determine the space planning requirements needed to accommodate their various work groups. We designed the space so that we maintained as many of the existing walls in order to keep the costs down. Due to the awkward angles and layout of the existing walls, it was a challenge to create a floor plan that satisfied all of the work group requirements. However, after much planning and many revisions, we were able to create a space plan that met and exceeded all of the proximity and space planning needs of the staff of Upside Software. The final result was one that was functional and space efficient for the entire staff. We were able to have the construction completed and the furniture moved in on target and met the budget requirements as well. The new office space accommodates all of the existing staff and also has the potential to accommodate future expansion. Click on an image to view the details... |
