The living area was directly to the left of the bed area and as such, needed to compliment the color scheme used in the bedroom. It was also important to have an additional sleeping area in case of guests. A black futon with brushed aluminum frame was selected for its comfort and functionality as well as its minimal footprint. A red accent pillow was added to infuse some color and tie in to the bedding.

Brushed aluminum was used throughout the apartment to create a modernistic atmosphere. This was accomplished through the use of the aluminum finish TV and TV stand as well as speakers and shelving. Shelving was an essential component to this space. Due to the small size of the apartment, it was important not to occupy too much floor space - adding shelving allowed the display of accents while keeping the floor area as free and open as possible.

Another interesting element within this space were the foldable chairs. The chair backs and seats are made of a strong, clear acrylic plastic and are supported by a metal frame and legs. The chairs are very unique and have a modern-retro feel to them. They are also foldable which allows them to be pulled out and hidden away when needed.
